Jesus Will Come To Gather The Saints After The Tribulation Period (Matt. 24:29-31)
2. Seven Seals & Seven Trumpets
The Disciples Ask Jesus Two Questions:
When Will The Temple Buildings Be Destroyed?
What Will Be The Sign of Your Coming?
The Destruction of The Temple
1 Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2 And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”
His Disciples Ask Jesus When Will The Temple Buildings Be Destroyed & What Will Be The Sign of His Coming
3 As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”
The Beginning of Birth Pangs
4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. 6 You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.
False Prophets, Lawlessness, The Gospel Will Be Preached In The Whole World Then The End Will Come
9 Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 At that time many will fall away and will betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. 12 Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end, he will be saved. 14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come."
Therefore When You See The Abomination of Desolation Standing In The Holy Place
There Will Be Great Tribulation (Day of The Lord - Wrath?) Not Since The Beginning of The World Or Ever Again
15 Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 Whoever is on the housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18 Whoever is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. 21 For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. 22 Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short. 23 Then if anyone says to you, ‘Behold, here is the Christ,’ or ‘There He is,’ do not believe him. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect. 25 Behold, I have told you in advance."
In verses 15-25 above Jesus probably is speaking about the day of the Lord because He is speaking about tribulation greater than any that ever will be and unless those days were cut short no life would be saved. The day of the Lord is a day of wrath.
Immediately After The Tribulation of Those Days The Sun Will Be Darkened And The Moon Will Not Give Its Light
Jesus Will Send His Angels With The Sound of A Great Trumpet And His Angels Will Gather His Elect
All The Tribes of The Earth Will Mourn
26 “So if they say to you, ‘Behold, He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out, or, ‘Behold, He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe them. 27 For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather.
29 But immediately after the tribulation of those days THE SUN WILL BE DARKENED, AND THE MOON WILL NOT GIVE ITS LIGHT, AND THE STARS WILL FALL from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory. 31 And He will send forth His angels with A GREAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other." - Matt. 24:1-31 NASB
The gathering described in the verses above is what is commonly referred to as the rapture. It takes place after the tribulation.
The Generation That Sees The Fig Tree (Israel) Put Forth Leaves Will See All These Things
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away." - Matt. 24:32-35 NKJV
The Day and Hour Unknown - Keep Watch And Be Ready
36 “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.” - Matt. 24:36-44 NIV
Jesus Foretells Destruction of Jerusalem
20 “But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation has come near. 21 Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let those who are inside the city depart, and let not those who are out in the country enter it, 22 for these are days of vengeance, to fulfill all that is written. 23 Alas for women who are pregnant and for those who are nursing infants in those days! For there will be great distress upon the earth and wrath against this people.
24 They will fall by the edge of the sword and be led captive among all nations, and Jerusalem will be trampled underfoot by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
There Will Be Signs In The Sun Moon And Stars, Nations In Perplexity Because of The Roaring of The Sea And The Waves
People fainting With Fear And Foreboding For The Powers of The Heavens Will Be Shaken
Then They Will See The Coming of the Son of Man Coming In A Cloud And Great Glory
25 “And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity because of the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 Now when these things begin to take place, straighten up and raise your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”
The Lesson of the Fig Tree
When You See These Things Taking Place, Then Know That The Kingdom of God Is Near
29 And he told them a parable: “Look at the fig tree, and all the trees. 30 As soon as they come out in leaf, you see for yourselves and know that the summer is already near. 31 So also, when you see these things taking place, you know that the kingdom of God is near. 32 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all has taken place. 33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
Watch So That Day Won’t Come On You Suddenly Like A Trap
34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” - Luke 21:20-36 ESV
Seven Seals & Seven Trumpets
Seven Seals, Seven Trumpets, Seven Bowls of Wrath
A List of The Seals And Trumpets
In Revelation 5 Jesus, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, was found worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals. He opened each of the seven seals. Then seven angels sounded the seven trumpets, and lastly seven angels poured out the seven bowls of wrath.
There are different opinions as to when seals, trumpets, and bowls take place. Some of the possibilities are: they take place during the seven year Jerusalem covenant, they take place during the 3-1/2 year great tribulation.
Where we are now in prophecy
Jesus Opens The Seven Seals
First Seal: The Conqueror
1. White horse to conquer. The rider has a bow but no arrows. - Rev. 6:1-2
This may be referring to the UN and its “peacekeeping forces”. They have had forces that did not carry weapons.
Second Seal: Conflict on Earth
2. Red horse to kill. The rider had a great sword and took peace from the earth. - Rev. 6:3-4
War in the Middle East - War has been taking place in the Middle East and violence has spread over the earth the Muslim Brotherhood, Isis and other radical Muslims.
Third Seal: Scarcity on Earth
3. Black horse. The rider had a pair of scales to weigh the food - scarcity. - Rev. 6:5-6
Economies are shaky throughout the world. Many are expecting for things to get even worse.
Fourth Seal: Widespread Death on Earth
4. Pale green horse (Greek - chloros). The name of the rider was Death, and Hades followed him. Power was given to them over 1/4 of the earth to kill with the sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the field. - Rev. 6:7-8
Fifth Seal: The Cry of the Martyrs
5. Tribulation martyrs cried out with a loud voice, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” - Rev. 6:9-11
Sixth Seal: Cosmic Disturbances
6. An earthquake, the sun became black, and the moon became like blood.Every man hid in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains and said that the great day of His wrath has come. - Rev. 6:12-17
After the sixth seal, John saw 144,000 who were sealed from the 12 tribes of Israel (Rev. 7:1-8). Those who have come out of the great tribulation and washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb are before the throne and before the Lamb (Rev. 7:9-17).
Silence In Heaven For About Half An Hour
Seventh Seal: Prelude to the Seven Trumpets
7. Smoke of incense with the prayers of the saints ascend before God from an angel’s hand. Then the angel threw the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and threw it to the earth. There is silence in heaven for about half an hour. - Rev. 8:1-6
Angels Sound The Seven Trumpets
First Trumpet: Vegetation Struck
1. Hail, fire, and blood. 1/3 of trees and all of the grass was burned up. - Rev. 8:7
Second Trumpet: The Seas Struck
2. Mountain with fire thrown into the sea. 1/3 of creatures in the sea died. - Rev. 8:8-9
Third Trumpet: The Waters Struck
3. Star fell on 1/3 of rivers and springs. A star named Wormwood fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and springs. The waters became bitter (wormwood) and many people died from the waters. - Rev. 8:10-11
Fourth Trumpet: The Heavens Struck
4. 1/3 of sun, moon, & stars are darkened. - Rev. 8:12-13 Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because the three remaining blasts of the trumpet are about to sound.
Fifth Trumpet: The Locusts from the Bottomless Pit
5. First Woe (Fifth trumpet) A star fell from heaven to the earth, and he was given the key to the bottomless pit. The "star" is probably Satan who is cast to the earth in Revelation 12::9.
He opened the bottomless pit and smoke rose from the Abyss like a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke. Locusts came out of the smoke and were given power like scorpions. They were told not to harm the grass, plants, or trees. They will torment those who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads for five months. The king over them is the angel of the bottomless pit. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon in Greek is Apollyon meaning Destroyer. - Rev. 9:1-12
One woe is past. - Rev. 9:12 Four angels bound at The Euphrates River are released to kill a third of mankind.
Sixth Trumpet: The Angels from the Euphrates
6. Second Woe (Sixth trumpet) Four angels who are bound at the river Euphrates are released to kill 1/3 of mankind. An army of 200,000,000 horsemen will kill 1/3 of mankind by fire, smoke, and brimstone. The rest of mankind did not repent of worshiping demons and idols, their murders, sorcery, sexual immorality, or their thefts. - Rev. 9:13-21
The two witnesses prophesy for 1,260 days (3-1/2 years). Then they will be killed. Their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified (Jerusalem). After 3-1/2 days they will stand on their feet, and then they will ascend into heaven. - Rev. 11:3-12
There was a great earthquake and a tenth of the city (Jerusalem?) and 7,000 men were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven. - Rev. 11:13
Seventh Trumpet: The Kingdom Proclaimed
The Kingdoms of This World Have Become The Kingdoms of Our Lord And of His Christ
Wrath, The Dead Are Judged, The Prophets And Saints Are Rewarded
7. Third Woe (Seventh trumpet) 15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” - Rev. 11:15 NKJV
18 The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear Your name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth.” - Rev. 11:18 NKJV
Satan is cast to the earth (Rev. 12:9).
Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea because the devil has great wrath knowing that his time is short (Rev. 12:12).
The seventh trumpet is very important because it is when the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.
Satan has been cast to the earth and he has great wrath. He has 3-1/2 years left (Rev. 13:3-10).
We Shall All Be Changed At The Last Trump - The Gathering (Rapture)
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed - 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." - 1 Cor. 15:51-54 NKJV
In the verses above from 1 Corinthians it says that we (Christians) will be changed at the last trump. The last trump is apparently the seventh trumpet in Revelation 11:15. This may mean that the gathering (rapture) takes place in the period of the seventh trumpet.
The seven bowls of wrath are shown on the “Day of The Lord” page.
